General Description of Position: The Director of Marketing and
Communications is responsible for overseeing the development,
production and evaluation of campus promotional, marketing, media
relations and media buying activities to ensure consistency in
message and cost effectiveness. The Director works closely with the
ad agency of record to oversee and manage the development of mass
media advertising (radio, TV, outdoor, etc.), publications, direct
mail and e-marketing activities on a local basis. The Director
works closely with the Admissions Leadership Group to streamline
communications to prospective students. The Director works closely
with the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services to implement
innovative techniques and programs to reach various segments of
prospective and incumbent student populations, including high
school students, working adults and students of our Workforce
Alignment programs. Under the guidance of the Chancellor, the
Director will co-sign on all marketing and media spending for the
Ivy Tech- campus served. Major Responsibilities: Serve as the
primary person in researching and developing new and innovative
ways to reach out to our prospective student population. Work with
the Admissions Leadership Group to improve recruitment and
communication channels to prospective students regionally. Work
with the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services, Vice Chancellor of
Student Success, and Admissions Leadership Team to implement a
fulfillment process to serve the campus. Work with the Ad Agency of
Record on the development of print and electronic media marketing
materials to promote the college locally. Oversee and coordinate,
in conjunction with the Ad Agency of Record, mass media buys
locally. Take lead in the preparation and analysis of market
research projects, i.e. focus groups, student surveys, etc. Conduct
and coordinate (multi) media relations and events. Develop and
support public relations activities. This is not to be construed as
an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this
position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted
within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and
professional standards. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree
in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Liberal
Arts or related field is required. Minimum of five years relevant
professional experience in marketing, market research, multimedia,
public relations or related field required. Excellent written and
verbal communications skills are required. Excellent organizational
skills are essential. Customer-centered and the ability to work
