controlled by procedures. Outside of work on test or development
stations, work is performed cautiously and deliberately, and
well-documented.Strong communication skills. The Digital Systems

limited understanding of digital concepts. The digital systems
engineer will also need to be able to effectively advocate for the
needs of their system in person, and in writing.Organized. Core

course of everyday duties. With minimal training, the engineer must
be able to learn to use other graphical interfaces.Data Analysis
and Trending: The engineer will be required to gather data from
plant equipment, create meaningful trends, and be able to interpret
them. This includes reviewing alarm logs, I/O data, and written
logs and reports.Logic Fundamentals: Boolean / relay logic and
expressions are routinely used. With minimal training, must be able
to interpret a logical block diagram. PLCs are used to manage
system I/O, and a basic familiarity with PLC concepts is required.
Experience with RTP, Triconex, or Wonderware systems will be
particularly useful.Electrical Fundamentals: The Digital systems
engineer must have a firm understanding of electrical control and
I/O circuits, and be able to apply their knowledge to interpreting
electrical prints in the course of troubleshooting, and in the
course of developing improvements to the system. Exposure to common
transducer types (AOV/MOVs, Pressure, flow, level, RTD, etc.) will
be especially useful. Knowledge of EMI and grounding concepts is
desired.Networking Knowledge: The digital systems engineer must
have a working knowledge of computer networking and basic
administration. TCP/IP and serial networks are used to route system
data in isolated networks of up to a dozen managed CISCO switches.
The digital system engineer will be the one primarily responsible

developing improvements or corrections to their configuration, and
monitoring their performance. Understanding and experience with
cyber security hardware such as firewalls and data diodes is
desired.#LI-HYBRID#AEPIM#INDAEP RequirementsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
