The Orthopaedic Robotics Team is bringing innovation to patient care. We are using robotics and digital tools to increase the performance, accuracy and safety of surgical procedures. The Staff Engineer Robotics will be a key role in the team on the forefront of new digital and robotic technology for the orthopedic medical device industry. This role will lead a part of the global robotic specific instrument development located in Warsaw and execute the technical development.

The ideal candidate for this exciting role is a strong collaborator that takes the time to understand the key clinical and technical inputs to drive improvements and efficiently complete all aspects of technical documentation, standards, and procedures. They will have a relentless and extraordinary attention to every detail of the project. The candidate will have an inspiring leadership record of encouraging and aligning people to a common purpose, as well as a history working with technologies in Robotics and Digital Innovation. Finally, they will have communication and collaboration skills that allow them to partner within our global R&D team and influence the other teams to flawlessly complete on time and on scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop instruments for robotic applications
  • Run day-to-day operational and procedural aspects of the project (as assigned).
  • Use technical capability for the engineering and development of robotics systems and medical devices.
  • Analyze and evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing products.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in the application of design controls and development processes
  • Solve design and manufacturing related problems
  • Identify assumptions, risks, mitigations, key deliverables, critical path dependencies and resource needs.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to drive project activities, key deliverables, timelines, providing follow up on action items to ensure timely, on-scope execution and completion of timelines.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge to lead specific tasks or activities to improve existing processes and to identify, propose, and implement solutions; provide technical guidance to others.
  • Build effective partnering relationships with other functional areas including Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, Manufacturing, Research, and Quality.
  • Ensure compliance with respect to all department, company, and government procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Other related duties maybe assigned.

    • A Bachelors degree in an Engineering or Scientific field is required
    • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience is required
    • Experience developing hardware for robotic systems is required
    • Experience with design controls and NPD processes for HW is required
    • Experience with Risk Management is highly preferred
    • Experience with Project Management is highly preferred
    • Experience with Verification and Validation Testing is required
    • Demonstrated ability to function as a technical contributor within a small team is required
    • Consistent track record working well in a team environment, learning from others, as well as mentoring and coaching team members is required
    • 1 plus years of experience of people management ( or leading others) is preferred
    • Relevant experience working with multi-disciplinary product development teams and external partners is preferred
    • Ability to travel up to 25%, domestic and international, is required
