with a continuous improvement mindset and desire to join a thriving
manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will learn
and then apply Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement
initiatives while supporting a segment of our manufacturing
process. Specifically, this position will:
- Prioritize, guide and facilitate the activities of the
manufacturing function to meet organizational goals, initiatives
and requirements
- Partner with hourly operators/area supervisors to develop
standard policies, procedures, and practices to ensure customer
requirements are embodied in manufacturing processes
- Audit to ensure adherence to best practice/standard procedures,
and define improvement opportunities to practice to gain
efficiency/throughput
- Establish and maintain uniform manufacturing performance
metrics and reporting systems
- Use data to reaffirm existing production goals, or establish
new goals, and use shop floor observations to identify actions to
achieve said goals
- Ensure operations metrics are well-known, and track daily
progress toward achieving objectives
- Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for
safety, on-time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap
reduction
- Develop the capabilities of those in the department through
teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring
accountability
- Exhibit and promote an attitude on the plant floor that leads
to an engaged and energized workforce
- Facilitate improvements in key production bottlenecks.
Additional job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not
limited to:
- Drive improvements by developing and implementing systems and
procedures based on data analysis
- Utilize best practice methodologies
- Perform other work related duties as assigned
- Participate in, learn, and eventually lead Kaizen events and
Kaizen teams.
- Develop Standard Work and work with teams to "Soak" the
standard into the process
- Drive improvements from data analytics and shop floor
observations
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering or Business from an accredited institutionOR
- 4 years experience in lean/continuous improvement in a
manufacturing environment.AND
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms
Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines
U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e.
'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Verification of
employment eligibility will be required at the time of
hire.Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn lean manufacturing/continuous improvement
principles and apply in a manufacturing environment
- Willingness to develop a strong technical understanding of
manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication,
interpersonal, organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data in excel
- Desire to spend time doing observations on the shop floor
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
(internship, project, etc.).
- Good communication skills
- Strong propensity to learn
- Solid problem-solving acumen
