Job Description:

Description: In this role, the Controls Engineer will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving the the automotive manufacturing equipment. The majority of the job will be diagnosing intermittent problems, helping the electricians get online and doing traceability work. An example of a traceability project would be tracking down a bar code, learning the history of the part and finding a solution. A typical day would also include spec-ing out hardware, updating AutoCAD electrical drawings and working with the maintenance team. The Controls Engineer will also be assigned small project work. An example could be adding in a barcode scanner to an existing line or integrating a blower to a robotic cell. Job Responsibilities Include: - Designs and recommends the control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes; identifies and resolves system integration and interface issues. - Works with Fanuc and Siemens automation equipment; Troubleshooting Fanuc robots. - Utilizing Hirschmann managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology. - Evaluates new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate. - Design, development, component selection, evaluation, and installation of machine controls hardware. - Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures. - Prepares and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers. - Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
