Job Requirements:
Position Summary:
The Director of Global Commodities is responsible for optimizing the company's sourcing strategy while driving cost reductions throughout the organization and ensuring a robust, risk mitigated supply chain where conforming products are sourced, developed, qualified, and delivered on time.
This position incorporates elements from several disciplines: Category Management , Sourcing, Quality, and Project Management.
The company operates in a medium to high volume, high mix and high SKU count environment including raw commodities, components, and finished goods. The company has over 30,000 active SKUs and purchases over 6,000 distinct SKUs annually. The company 3 rd party annual spend is approx. $100M split between approx. 60 overseas sources and 150 domestic sources. Most items are metal or injection molded plastics.
This position reports directly to the VP of Global Sourcing in the US.

Expertise in collecting and analyzing data to identify and recommend areas of opportunity
Ability to accurately assess supplier capability to meet product and supplier performance expectations

High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate in cross functional environments
Basic understanding of various manufacturing processes (i.e. metal forming, casting, molding, machining, assembly, finishing, injection molding etc.)
Essential Functions:
Find, suggest, manage and drive multiple supply chain optimization and sourcing projects to drive company initiatives for product rationalization, cost savings and supplier performance.
Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to aid in the sourcing selection and make versus buy decisions.
Facilitate and lead sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations to support Purchase Price Variance (PPV) activities.
Identify and build cost savings pipeline opportunities and implementation strategies.
Establish / lead the development of a robust Supplier Management Program
Perform supplier qualification and/or recommend suppliers for disqualification using risk-based criteria
Manage a Supplier Performance Review process and monitor ongoing supplier performance
Lead annual supplier risk assessments to determine supplier audits, create and monitor schedule for the year; perform audits as lead auditor, generate audit reports.
Collect and maintain supplier performance metrics and present to The company management team.
Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers
Develop and implement strategies to improve supplier productivity/quality, and ensure supply chain continuity.
Work with suppliers on process improvements and recommendations to decrease manufacturing costs.
Facilitate or participate in root cause problem investigation and resolution through design prevention
Interact with all levels of management, including senior management and suppliers to support strategic direction, operational and quality goals.
Analyze and track category/commodity spend to reduce overall spend.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree
10-15 year of relevant work experience
Demonstrated Project Management experience
Proficient oral and written communication skills (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint) MRP/ERP (Epicor) experience a plus but not required
CPM, CPIM, ISM certifications helpful
Domestic and international sourcing helpful

Ability to travel (US and International) an estimated 8%-10% as needed
