Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONExelon is seeking a Director of AI and
Machine Learning to drive the execution of AI/ML strategy and
innovation in our energy intelligence efforts. As a leader within
the AI and Machine Learning (AIML) organization, you will focus on
implementing the Exelon AIML strategy leveraging large-scale ML
systems, computer vision, natural language processing, and
multi-modal understanding. You will be responsible for executing
best practices for the ML lifecycle, ensuring our solutions are
private, reliable, and scalable across the entire consumer
ecosystem while aligning with Exelon's broader AIML strategy. The
Digital Solutions team is looking for a results-driven leader with
deep expertise in the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data
ingestion, model training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
This individual will be instrumental in driving the execution and
implementation of our ML platform, leading engineering teams, and
ensuring all AI/ML initiatives align with Exelon's overall AIML
vision and strategic priorities.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Partner with engineering teams and developers across Exelon to
deploy cutting-edge technologies that accelerate the ML lifecycle
and integrate seamlessly with broader enterprise initiatives.

- Direct AIML engineering teams to implement best practices,
tools, and processes for managing the ML lifecycle, including data
management, model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and
retraining. (20%)
- Serve as a key executor in translating AI/ML strategy into
tangible, scalable solutions that align with Exelon's business
objectives and strategic goals. (20%)
- Drive the execution of the complete product lifecycle from
concept to deployment, ensuring consistency with Exelon's digital
transformation and AIML strategies. (10%)
- Gather customer feedback and analyze market trends to refine
product roadmaps and communicate execution plans to senior
management, ensuring continuous alignment with Exelon's broader
AI/ML objectives. (10%)
- Translate product and program requirements into actionable
technical use cases, proactively identifying risks and enabling
engineering teams to mitigate challenges while maintaining
alignment with company-wide AI/ML standards. (5%)
- Ensure all ML programs meet performance specifications, key
business metrics, and regulatory compliance standards while staying
aligned with corporate AI/ML governance. (5%)
Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
- Level and depth of supervisory duties: This leader should have
experience managing demand for work and ensuring timely and within
budget delivery of AIML innovations throughout Exelon. They should
also have experience educating team regarding the benefits of AI
and knows how to work to identify areas where the application of
AIML would lead to process and cost efficiencies. They should be
experienced in making AIML cultural within organizations.
- Total number of employees managed; direct and indirect reports
(span of control) Newly formed area, this director will begin with
a manager and two E03s reporting to them as well as multiple pods
(30 people) of contractors working on the extensive AI work
happening within Exelon.
- Level of independence, decision-making authority or strategic
planning accountability This person will report to the VP of
Digital Solutions and will assist in executing the strategy set by
Corporate for both Customer, Operations, Finance, and
Employees.
- Internal and external contact relationships This person should
have strong relationships in the industry and be passionate about
evolving AIML trends to ensure that we are leveraging the
technologies that will benefit us most.
- Budget accountability, impact on asset management, and
organization revenue This individual will be accountable that all
projects worked within their area be on-budget.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial
Intelligence, or a related field.
- Deep expertise in machine learning frameworks and cloud-based
ML platforms.
- Proven ability to execute AI/ML strategies and implement
solutions at scale while aligning with broader corporate AI/ML
goals.
- Strong experience in leading cross-functional teams and
executing large-scale AI/ML projects.
- Experience in ML operations (MLOps), including model
registries, feature stores, monitoring, and retraining
workflows.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate
complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science,
Artificial Intelligence, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML development, with a strong
track record in ML platform architecture, model deployment, and
lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or
Scala.
- Strong knowledge of energy systems, power grid analytics, and
smart grid technologies is a plus.

- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills,
qualifications, experience, and other factors: $172,000.00/Yr. -
$236,500.00/Yr. plus an additional $50K in Long Term Incentive Plan
annually
