- JOB SUMMARY - Reports to the Pharmacy Manager. Under the clinical supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and legal and regulatory requirements, and enters prescription data into the computer, verifies insurance on-line, fills pharmaceuticals for dispensing and ensures delivery of products and pharmaceutical supplies to patients in a retail environment which will include point of sale responsibilities. Vision: Our vision is to achieve: - Innovative health care and well-being services of the highest quality at the greatest value - Easy access and convenience - Outstanding patient experiences - Ongoing education involving physicians, patients and the community - JOB SPECIFICATIONS - Education and Experience - The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a pharmacy technician training program approved by the State of Indiana. Current certification through the State of Indiana is required. Certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) must be acquired within one year of licensure with the State of Indiana. A minimum of one year experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail environment with duties to have included new prescription processing, POS and insurance verification is preferred. Active licensure through the State of Indiana and certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) must be maintained throughout employment. - Knowledge & Skills - Demonstrates effective communication skills necessary to follow verbal and written instructions, including the ability to understand technical and pharmaceutical terminology. - Demonstrates mathematical skills necessary to accurately compute fractions, ratios, percentages and totals. - Demonstrates knowledge and experience utilizing a POS (point-of-sale) system. - Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, families, visitors and staff in a courteous manner; and to maintain positive working relationships. - Working Conditions - Occasional exposure to potentially hazardous substances. - Works in a retail environment. - Physical Demands - Requires physical ability and stamina (to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to remain standing or walking for prolonged periods of time) to perform the essential functions of the position.
