Michigan supporting a GMU step down unit caring for general medical

Contract Job Details - Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – General
Medical Stepdown, Nights - Location: Kalamazoo, MI - Start Date:
March 9, 2026 - End Date: June 8, 2026 - Contract Duration: 13
weeks (travel/contract nursing) - Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour
nights (19:00–07:30) - Hours: 36 hours/week - Weekend Requirement:
Every other weekend - Call: None - Floating: May float to other
med-surg areas (including AU and ER) to care for med-surg patients
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4–6 (support staff available if ratios
flex higher; chemo admits may reduce assignment) - EMR/Charting:
Epic - Equipment: Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps
Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements - Experience: Minimum 1 year
recent RN experience required; stepdown experience strongly
preferred - License: Active Michigan RN license. - Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) - NIH/NIHSS - ONS or ONCC required (one or the other).
ONCC/OCN must be in hand; pending ONS may be considered. - Clinical
Skills: Peripheral IV starts/maintenance; infusion therapy;
administering and monitoring IV chemotherapy - Availability: Must
be available for the first two weeks of the assignment Key
Responsibilities (General Medical Stepdown RN – Nights) - Provide
high-quality patient care for adult and geriatric stepdown patients
with general medical and oncology-related needs - Safely administer
and monitor IV chemotherapy per policy and standards of practice -
Initiate, maintain, and troubleshoot peripheral IV access and
infusion therapy using Sigma IV pumps - Perform focused
assessments, monitoring, and timely escalation for clinical changes
- Document accurately and efficiently in Epic, including
assessments, interventions, and patient responses - Collaborate
with interdisciplinary partners (PT/RT, pharmacy, radiology,
phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, and more) to
support patient-centered care - Support unit flow and safety
practices, including admissions, transfers, and discharge readiness
- Float as needed to med-surg areas to provide appropriate care
