Responsible for assessing and reassessing patients, maintaining accurate patient records including filing of reports in designated areas, scheduling of appropriate tests when indicated, responding to patient phone calls, speaking with pharmacies when indicated under the supervision of the provider.

Education:

  • Graduate of a high school or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in related health care field preferred
  • Experience in a relevant physician office role preferred.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or an equivalent required within 3 months of hire.
  • CPR Certification required within 3 months of hire.

General Responsibilities:

  • Collects patient health information which is communicated by written and verbally to appropriate health professionals in order to identify actual and potential problems.
  • Demonstrates an ability of safe medication and treatment administration. Correctly identify patients accepting responsibility for individual actions including activities that may be considered fraudulent, illegal or inappropriate.
  • Deliver care in a nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory, and ethical manner which preserves and protects the patient autonomy, confidentiality, dignity and rights.

Identifies and reports actual events and potentially hazardous situations as outlines in hospital procedures. Uses safe practices to take action when necessary to protect the health and well-being of patients, visitor and/or coworkers. Works collaboratively to find ways of safeguarding patients, visitors and/or coworkers. For positions with age specific competencies, must be able to identify and implement appropriate safety measures for all ages of patient services.
  • Knows and participates as appropriate in organization's Corporate Compliance Program. Identifies and reports work activities that may potentially be considered inappropriate, illegal or fraudulent.
