Job Description: - Pure Green Farms is currently seeking an experienced career safety professional to join our staff as Food and Occupational Safety Specialist. Working under the direction of the Food Safety and Quality Manager, the candidate
is responsible to perform specialized safety tasks associated with growing and packaging leafy greens at our hydroponic greenhouse harvesting and production facility. Relevant education, experience and the highest standard of pride in work performance and internal/external customer service will be expected to ensure healthy, safe and compliant food products and work environment.

Responsibilities and Duties :
A. - - - -Food Safety:
o - -Develops and disseminates accurate food safety information and decisions
o - -Manages the execution of food safety related requests from customers and maintains compliance with customer requirements
o - -Participate in our Food Safety Plan, Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), and Quality Assurance programs
Develop and execute food safety initiatives and plans for the facility
Risk-based Food Safety verification for Suppliers, internal/external facilities and warehouses.
Perform tissue sampling, EMP swabbing and collecting water samples
Provide assistance to the sanitation team to ensure a safe a clean environment
Serves as a backup to the Food Safety and Quality Manager and to complete product recall activities and crisis management when necessary

B. - - - -Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safety
Evaluate facility, equipment, and processes for risk, hazards, condition, and/or integrity as it pertains to workplace safety
Conduct Safety Incident investigations and reports findings to CEO and Food Safety Manager. Ensures and documents that remedial safety improvements have been fully implemented
Liaison with PGF HR and Insurance representatives on all workman's compensation claims
Plans, manages, conducts and files the annual OSHA 300 and 300A report
Provides routine and on demand trainings and briefs to staff on best practice safety standards
Ensure all Safety and PPE supplies are adequately stocked, monitored, and secured.
o - -Assists, plans, monitors, and implements safety policies in compliance with local, federal (OSHA) and corporate requirements
Maintain lock-tag-try (LOTO) process to ensure workers stay safe when around hazardous energy.
Ability to consistently demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, dependability, initiative, flexibility, enthusiasm, and good teamwork in a fast-paced, start-up environment
Ability to be on-call, after hours, for crisis management and communication
Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Microbiology, Food Science or related field
HACCP certification required
SQF certification, OSHA 30 hour and/or accredited safety certification preferred
1 plus years of food safety or quality experience preferred Experience with Quality Systems, HACCP, SOPS, GMPs
Food microbiology, food safety, and/or Good Agricultural/ Manufacturing Practice coursework strongly preferred.
Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action systems, process mapping, laboratory methods, risk assessment
GFSI Certification a plus

Working Conditions:
- - - - - - - -Combination office and greenhouse environments. Greenhouse facility temperature average ranges from 45 to 75 degrees
- - - - - - - -Position requires sitting, standing, and walking on a regular basis for prolonged periods
- - - - - - - -Must be able to lift 40 lbs
