POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety Intern is responsible for supporting safety-related improvement projects. This position will require a self-driven person who can work independently.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Support major plant initiatives and other strategic goals in the plant.
• Participate in and assist with corrective action for incident investigations.
• Work side by side with the operations leadership team to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Evaluate our current health and safety practices for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness while reducing injuries and illness.
• Perform relevant inspections and audits.
• Participate in plant safety walks.
• Attend monthly training sessions.
• Participate in a Corporate Safety Assessment within the Omaha facilities.
• Assist in the development and facilitation of employee training.
• Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
• Ability to work and interact well with others at all levels. Identified projects will require interaction and communication with production employees, supervisors, managers, and vendors.
  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  
  Education: College student of at least sophomore standing; Safety, Industrial Technology, Human Resources or related field preferred.
  
  Experience: none
  
  Required Skills:
  • Intermediate PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Intermediate communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Intermediate organizational skills with a strong attention to details
  • Ability to work collaboratively and/or independently in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to navigate in a manufacturing environment
