Job Description

Truck Centers, Inc. is continually growing, and that means we have an ongoing need for experienced Body Shop Technicians within our team. Our new state of the art facility in South Bend is equipped with all the latest technology and tooling needed to make your job easier. The Body Shop Technician repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications using hands tools and power tools.

Core Responsibilities
Removes and replaces damaged parts, straightens repairable parts and prepares vehicles for finishing.
Repairs fiberglass parts, hoods, cab extenders and air shields.
Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
Sands repaired or replaced vehicle parts, applies primer paint and/or single stage paint, and completes refinishing of vehicle body to look like new.
Attends courses/classes to improve auto body repair skills; reads OEM bulletins to keep knowledge and techniques updated.
Cleans work area continually as jobs are completed to maintain a clean, orderly and safe workplace.
Follows all safety rules and uses safety equipment to avoid injuries to self and others; reports conditions which are unsafe to resolve safety problems.
Understands and follows all federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
Performs other duties as assigned to exceed customer needs and maintain company goals and objectives; may oversee the work of an apprentice technician as assigned.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license
Class B CDL with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment and driving record that allows insurability; Class A CDL preferred
Ability to meet insurance requirements
1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General mechanical skills
Experience with medium and heavy trucks preferred
Personal commitment to consistent, quality work


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted.
